In my 26 years of work as a bankruptcy attorney, countless financially troubled consumers have come to my office full of anxiety and fear about the prospect of filing for bankruptcy.  In nearly every case, I found that if I took the time to explain the bankruptcy process to them and to describe the roles of the lawyers, court and other players in the process, they usually left my office feeling a lot better and less worried about what's ahead.
